Frequently Asked Questions

Are the FBR tax slabs for 2024-25 updated?
Yes! Our Pakistan Tax Calculator is updated with the latest FBR income tax slabs for FY 2024-25 as announced in the Federal Budget. The slabs are different for salaried individuals and non-salaried/business income. We update the calculator every year after the federal budget announcement.
What is the difference between salaried and non-salaried tax?
In Pakistan, salaried individuals (employed with TDS deducted by employer) have different tax slabs than non-salaried individuals (business income, freelancers, rental income). Salaried individuals generally have lower tax rates. Our calculator handles both categories with the correct 2024-25 slabs.
How accurate are the PKR exchange rates?
Our currency converter uses live API data updated in real-time. However, actual bank rates may vary by 1-3 PKR from the interbank rate shown. For large transactions, always confirm the exact rate with your bank or exchange company. The rates shown are interbank/open market reference rates.
Do you include withholding tax on salary?
Yes, our Pakistan Tax Calculator computes annual tax liability and shows monthly withholding tax (WHT) that should be deducted by the employer. It also shows the effective tax rate, marginal tax rate for each income slab, and net take-home salary after all deductions.

Pakistan-Specific Tools — Calculators Built for Pakistani Users

Most financial and utility calculators available online are built for Western markets — they assume US tax structures, European property markets, or global default settings that don't reflect Pakistani realities. A mortgage calculator that doesn't support KIBOR-linked rates, a tax calculator that applies IRS slabs, or a Zakat calculator without Pakistani Nisab thresholds are functionally useless for Pakistani users.

HashmiTools' Pakistan section addresses this directly. These tools are built from the ground up for Pakistani financial, legal, and Islamic contexts — using FBR tax slabs, Pakistani bank rate conventions, Hanafi jurisprudence for Islamic calculations, and local currency and cultural context throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these tools useful for Overseas Pakistanis?

Yes — several tools are specifically relevant for overseas Pakistanis: the Currency Converter (PKR remittance planning), the Tax Calculator (understanding Pakistan-source income obligations), the Inheritance Calculator (estate planning involving Pakistani property), and the Zakat Calculator (calculating Zakat on Pakistani assets from abroad).

How frequently are the tax slabs updated?

Pakistan's tax slabs are revised annually through the Finance Act, typically presented with the Federal Budget in June. The calculator is updated after each budget. The "Last updated" note on the tax calculator confirms the current Finance Year's slabs in use.

Can I trust these calculations for official filings or court submissions?

These tools provide accurate estimates for planning and understanding purposes. For official FBR filings, always use the Iris portal. For court inheritance distributions, the calculated result should be verified by a qualified Mufti and a lawyer; courts require proper documentation and may appoint their own assessors in disputed cases.

Are tools for provincial taxes (Punjab, Sindh) included?

Currently, the calculator covers federal income tax (FBR). Provincial taxes (provincial sales tax on services, stamp duty, professional tax) vary by province and are more complex to model universally. Provincial-specific calculators are in the pipeline; contact us to request priority additions for specific provincial tax calculations.

What new Pakistan-specific tools are planned?

Planned additions include: an NTN registration guide with eligibility checker, an FBR income tax withholding rate reference card, a SECP business registration cost estimator, and a vehicle import duty calculator. Suggest specific tools you need through the contact form.
